The Alpaca is a mammal that lives in high altitudes in South America and has a wonderful fleece that keeps it comfortable at a wide range of temperatures. Alpacas are seasonally shorn of their fleece which is combed and cleaned and made into these gorgeous clothes.
Baby Alpaca is a very fine grade of alpaca fibre, often from the belly of grown-up alpacas, not necessarily from actual baby alpacas. It's around 19-21 micron in diameter.
Alpaca clothing has heaps of benefits for your child and family as it is actually superior to Merino wool in a number of ways!
If you need to wash it, hand-wash in lukewarm water, cool to tepid, no more than 30C.
Use a liquid detergent designed to protect natural fibres for wool as sold in our fabric care category here.
Gently squeeze water through, avoiding any rubbing or wringing action.
Rinse at the same lukewarm, tepid temperature avoiding temperature change. Gently squeeze the water through.
Lay out on a towel, and then gently roll it up to remove excess water. Do not wring or twist the garment.
Lay flat to dry, re-shaping while damp. Avoid direct heat and sunlight.
"I bought these for my mother who is unable to wear long socks or tights, likes skirts and wanted warm legs for the winter. They are wonderfully warm and soft and stay up without being too tight. They work so well we have bought a second pair"

"They keep as new, Are very comfortable, extremely cosy - just right. wouldn't be without them. Have several to colour co-ordinate. Price is good. Cannot fault. Not aware of wearing something extra and yet feel delightfully comfortable. Would not be without them. BIG THANKYOU. Choice for customers excellent."

"I use my leg warmers to bridge the gap between my leggings and shoes. I suffer from poor circulation so these are great for keeping the bottoms of my legs warm and covered. I use the mushroom coloured ones as they are quite neutral."
This was washed... I wash rarely in cold water and liquid non-bio detergent.

"Have a trapped nerve in my neck and react to temperature u see 25 degrees so wear leg warmers almost constantly to control muscles spasms. Very soft and not scratchy at all, only slight drawback is the do fall down if u wear them for more than a day, therefore I have loads of pairs"
"Just right for keeping ankles and lower calf cosy, especially when you need a littel extra comfort sitting at your desk or waiting for the heating to come on. I use my legwarmers often. I would welcome a slightly, chunkier version too. Lovely range of colours"
This was washed... I wash them with care by hand and they spring back as new
"These are fine quality, fine knit leg warmers. I have fairly average (not thin) calves and they fit well as there is plenty of ''give'' in the fine rib but they do come up a bit narrower and shorter than the Lana Bambini leg warmers (that I also bought from CB), that are a bit more generous in size. I feel like the Alpaca ones are good if you want a more discreet, smart look and because they are not chunky they make great arm warmers too!"
