Wool has many benefits:
In this way, wool is a wonderful temperature-regulator, slowing down the effects of changes of temperature and helping prevent sweatiness by absorbing moisture and releasing it in response to the environment. This makes it a wonderful fabric for socks and tights for the whole family, as well as for athletes, cyclists, skiers and mountain-climbers. It's naturally high-tec and can't be beaten by synthetics!
Find out more about the properties of wool in our blog.
Dilute your wool detergent in cool water (max 30oc which will feel luke-warm) in a bowl. For heavily-soiled areas, use a little gall soap on your woollens first, testing on an inconspicuous area first.
Add your woollens to the bowl, gently stirring and squeezing the detergent through. Rinse using water at the same temperature, otherwise your wool will be subjected to "shock" and might felt up.
To dry, gently squeeze water out and wrap your wool clothes in a towel to remove the excess water.
Air-dry naturally avoiding direct heat. So, hanging on a drying rack over the bath is good, or on a clothes horse, or flat on a dry terry towel.
Re-shape while damp.

"I wear them everyday to keep my feet and legs warm. Wash well on a wool wash. No shrinkage ."
This was washed... washed fine
Sizing: Feels true to size
I'd recommend this to a friend.
"I bought two sizes as I'm inbetween two. I showed then to my husband who tried on the larger pair out of interest and promptly kept them. I wasn't sure I'd like the ribbed top but actually it works well and keeps up without being tight plus I love the colours. I bought blue and pink."

"I bought a pair of these gorgeous thick socks a year ago and have just given them an airing for this winter. They only had occasional use as I saved them for extremely cold days, so theyre in excellent condition still. I cant say how they would hold up with constant use but the short version usually last me one winter of almost daily wear. They are knee high and stay up well and I never wash this type of sock - ever ! just wear and air."

"These socks just get better and better as long as you wash them carefully by hand. I always buy a few pairs at a time so I can ‘rest’ a pair every few days so as not to wash them too often. These are the best socks I have ever had, warm, soft and extremely comfortable. Only problem is they go out of stock quite quickly !! Many friends have also followed my suggestion and now regularly purchase them"

"I usually wear long skirts and these wool knee-high socks are the perfect provider of in-between-seasons leg warmth, when it's too chilly to go bare-legged yet not cold enough for tights. Non-sweaty, non-itchy, they stay up all day, they fit into a normal shoe - absolutely perfect for my purposes."
