All of Serendipity's organic cotton clothing is made from 100% organic cotton yarns that are GOTS certified and their products are also GOTS certified in full finish. This means the entire production process from cotton growth and spinning to finished production live up to the standards set forward in Global Organic Textile Standard GOTS.
Furthermore, all cotton garments are Fair Trade certified (SA 8000).
Organic cotton is grown without the use of chemical fertilisers and is healthier for the environment. The reduced processing of the cotton also results in a longer-staple, higher quality cotton that is softer on your skin. Included in the organic certification are standards that ensure the welfare of those involved in the farming and production of the clothing, so that you can be assured that nobody has been exploited along the way.
You will feel the difference in quality when you touch organic cotton - it's something that gives us pleasure to handle here at Cambridge Baby, and you know that it's safe for your baby and gentle and nurturing for your family.
All the dyes are used are also GOTS certified. This means dye-processes the are free of AZO colours, formaldehydes and heavy metals as well as no use of optical bleaching or chlorine. This helps keep chemicals/metals out of our soil and away from our skin.
A small amount of shrinkage (3-5%) may occur in the first couple of washes, but the clothes are made slightly bigger to accommodate this. Air dry, and re-shape while damp if necessary.
To help all your clothes last longer, always air dry rather than tumble dry. Woven garments should always be hung to dry only.
To reduce calcium build-up which can contribute to a hardening of your clothing, add a little vinegar to your rinse cycle.
