All of Pickapooh's sunhats including the fireman sunhat are made from 100% organic cotton. If you have a look on the label it should say 100% baumwolle (KbA) the “KbA” stands for “kontrolliert biologischer Anbau” which is German for “certified organic farming” and the abbreviation for organic cotton certified by an independent institute, which in the case of Pickapooh is GOTS, the Global Organic Textile Standard.
The organic cotton is GOTS certified by IVN. Organic cotton is better for your child, cotton farmers, garment makers, their families and the environment.
By choosing organic you are making an investment not only in the health of your child but also in the world they will grow up in.
The Pickapooh organic cotton offers UV protection at three levels; UPF 20, 60 and 80. The ultraviolet protection is free of any chemical additions. All items made from these materials reliably safeguard from the damaging effects of UV radiation.
PICKAPOOH sun protection is certified according to the most stringent rules of the UV-Standard 801. This standard tests real wearing conditions and offers reliable UPF values regulated by Stiftung Warentest. “UV protect” labels awarded by the UV-Standard 801 are attached to each garment.
A small amount of shrinkage may occur in the first couple of washes, but the clothes are made slightly bigger to accomodate this. Air dry, and re-shape while damp if necessary.
To help all your clothes last longer, always air dry rather than tumble dry.
To reduce calcium build-up which can contribute to a hardening of your clothing, add a little vinegar to your rinse cycle.
"Keeps sun out of eyes, folds away into a pocket when not needed."
Sizing: Feels true to size
I wouldn't really recommend this to a friend.
"This sun hat was bought for me a 76 yr. old lady, I measured my head and got the size nearest. It was a perfect size. It shades my face and eyes well and keeps my head nice and cool in very hot weather."

"I use this for gardening (so far)ass I need a sun visor and I don't want a brim at the back of the hat because they get in the way when I am moving my head. It fits me very well. I have a size 7&1/2 head which is on the large side (5ft 11" tall!), so that's why I say it is generously sized. I can pull it down to cover my ears and it is not tight. The shaping is good for me."

Sizing: A little generous
"This is a really excellent sunhat! The fit is very generous and for me personally the hat sits fairly low on my head, which suits me fine as it offers more protection. The brim is wide and the hat sits comfortably over my ears. I will be purchasing a second in a different colour when possible."

"I chose the turquoise and love the colour. The hat folds down small and is washable, which not all peaked caps are (it depends what the peak is stiffened with). I bought the 8 years + for myself, an adult with a relatively small head. It's too big, but I am reluctant to swap for 3-10 years as I'm 37! The peak is large and offers lots of shade to the eyes; the downside of this is it impedes your field of vision more than some other hats."

Sizing: Too big
"I ordered size 1-3 years which is way too big for our almost 2 year old as the size is 52 cm."
This was worn by... 22 month old.
