The seersucker gives this garment a great textured finish, making it breathable and gentle on skin - perfect to prevent overheating in those warmer months. Seersucker is a lightweight fabric – usually cotton – that's characterised by its puckered effect, which is created by weaving the fibres on twin-beam looms at varying speeds. This technique gives the fabric its trademark appearance and texture – those alternating smooth and course stripes that create pockets of space, allowing for increased air circulation and breathability.

Pigeon are very proud that their organic certification covers the entire supply chain, from field to finished product.

The cotton is grown organically, and the processing (spinning, weaving, washing, dyeing, etc) is undertaken in an environmentally and socially responsible way.

Their cotton comes from Turkey, where there is a very serious knowledge of organic growing and carefully controlled processing.

The Soil Association is the UK certification body which certifies their clothes in accordance with GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standards).

GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) is a globally agreed standard to which the main national certification bodies have signed up. It not only covers environmental factors, but also social considerations by ensuring that all processors and manufacturers meet the minimum social criteria of the International Labour Organisation (ILO), covering employment practices, working conditions, pay, collective bargaining, and the banning of child labour. Control Union (formerly SKAL) is the internationally recognised (Dutch) certification body, which handles the organic controls in Turkey where the fabric is produced, also in accordance with GOTS.

The dyes used on their fabrics are not organic themselves, but the GOTS compliance ensures that they do not contain harmful substances. They are also covered by the above organic inspection processes.

Please wash your organic cotton on a 30oc cotton cycle.

A small amount of shrinkage may occur in the first couple of washes, but the clothes are made slightly bigger to accomodate this. Air dry, and re-shape while damp if necessary.

To help all your clothes last longer, always air dry rather than tumble dry.

To reduce calcium build-up which can contribute to a hardening of your clothing, add a little vinegar to your rinse cycle.
