The Alpaca is a mammal that lives in high altitudes in South America and has a wonderful fleece that keeps it comfortable at a wide range of temperatures. Alpacas are seasonally shorn of their fleece which is combed and cleaned and made into these gorgeous clothes.
Baby Alpaca is a very fine grade of alpaca fibre, often from the belly of grown-up alpacas, not necessarily from actual baby alpacas. It's around 19-21 micron in diameter.
Alpaca clothing has heaps of benefits for your child and family as it is actually superior to Merino wool in a number of ways!
If you need to wash it, hand-wash in lukewarm water, cool to tepid, no more than 30C.
Use a liquid detergent designed to protect natural fibres for wool as sold in our fabric care category here.
Gently squeeze water through, avoiding any rubbing or wringing action.
Rinse at the same lukewarm, tepid temperature avoiding temperature change. Gently squeeze the water through.
Lay out on a towel, and then gently roll it up to remove excess water. Do not wring or twist the garment.
Lay flat to dry, re-shaping while damp. Avoid direct heat and sunlight.
"Very warm and snug, but may prove OTT for autumn and spring."

Sizing: Feels true to size
I'd recommend this to a friend.
"Perfect fit when pulled up over my nose- the ribbing means it grips and stays put, without squishing my face. I think the ribbing gives so much tolerance that it would fit a variety of different shapes and sizes of face, including a child. I don’t find it itchy, feels softer than merino lambs wool to me. I wear snoods a lot in the winter to pre-warm the air, as cold air is an asthma trigger for me. I got miss green which is same as in my browser- rich deep green."

"A lovely, warm, snug, snood. I bought the blue which is vibrant and goes with all my clothes. The only draw back is that I find it a bit itchy and preferred my original Cambridge baby snood with a silk, wool mix as it felt better against my skin. But I'd highly recommend this new snood anyway."
"soft and so warm, lives either on me or in my bag along with my wrist warmers. Really good quality"
