All certified organic wool comes from sheep which have been farmed organically and with high animal welfare standards. At Cambridge Baby we always make sure that no wool comes from farms which practise mulesing.
The GOTS organic standards are so high that even oils that lubricate knitting machines have to be analysed. Grodo's whole garment (not just the yarn) is certified as organic, so that you can be assured that their dyes are baby-safe, eco-safe and that all cotton threads and finishes are natural too.
Wool has many benefits:
In this way, wool is a wonderful temperature-regulator, slowing down the effects of changes of temperature and helping prevent sweatiness by absorbing moisture and releasing it in response to the environment. This makes it a wonderful fabric for socks and tights for the whole family, as well as for athletes, cyclists, skiers and mountain-climbers. It's naturally high-tech and can't be beaten by synthetics!
Find out more about the properties of wool in our blog.
Dilute your wool detergent in cool water (max 30oc which will feel luke-warm) in a bowl. For heavily-soiled areas, use a little gall soap on your woollens first, testing on an inconspicuous area first.
Add your woollens to the bowl, gently stirring and squeezing the detergent through. Rinse using water at the same temperature, otherwise your wool will be subjected to "shock" and might felt up.
To dry, gently squeeze water out and wrap your wool clothes in a towel to remove the excess water.
Air-dry naturally avoiding direct heat. So, hanging on a drying rack over the bath is good, or on a clothes horse, or flat on a dry terry towel.
Re-shape while damp.
"They keep their shape well, even after a year of wear and several (though not many) washes. More importantly, they keep feet warm and dry without adding bulk. Perfect in wellies or any other shoe when a bit of extra warmth is needed. Have already ordered the next size up."

Sizing: Feels true to size
I'd recommend this to a friend.
"great socks, not too thick and not too thin. They shrink a bit with repeating washing but not a big deal. I always buy size bigger and stretch it after washing."

"Good comforable, warm socks. The fit is generous but they do stay on. I've only hand washed them so far, but they seem fine."

"I bought these for my 2 youngest last year--now 2 and 4 years old. They are allergic to synthetic so these are great first of all because they can actually WEAR them! Also they stay on and are not too tight. They are also quite durable and because they are wool do not need as frequent washing. They still look good after a year. One drawback, if you have your teens do the laundry, make sure they don't run it on hot! My big kids shrunk several pairs running them after the diapers because they forgot to switch wash temp! It's not a total loss though. We are saving those for the new baby."

"I bought these socks for my daughter and she exclaimed that they felt good and comfortable, because they were not like the average. I will continue to purchase from Cambridge even as my God sees fit."
This was washed... I washed them, and they were still in good condition
